Wrong Way Crash Injures Two

- February 03, 2012

An SUV going the wrong way on an interstate in Chicago traveled nearly 5 miles before hitting another car head-on, police said.

The incident occurred in the outbound lanes of Interstate 55 at about 3:00 a.m. Friday morning, when the 23-year-old driver of the SUV entered the expressway and drove for 5 miles before crashing into another vehicle while traveling the wrong way on the ramp that connects the interstate with Lake Shore Drive.

Both drivers were transported to local hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
